Rescue mission - MOB at Scarabeo8 in the Barents Sea

SUMMARY:
 

  • Man Over Board, fell 13,5 m from a semi-sub drilling rig at the Goliat Field in the Barents Sea

STORY:
 

On 20 February 2015 at 04.11 a.m. ESVAGT AURORA received a MOB call from the drilling rig. An offshore worker had fallen 13,5 m into the sea.

 

Distance from the rig to ESVAGT AURORA was about 1.000 m. No close standby had been requested by the rig up to the event.

 

ESVAGT AURORA launched a Fast Rescue Boat (FRB) and the person was recovered from the sea at 04.15 a.m. The FRB was back on board ESVAGT AURORA 2 minutes later (6 minutes after the MOB call) and the person was taken to the hospital on board.  

 

At 06.25 am. the person was evacuated from ESVAGT AURORA by helicopter and brought to Hammerfest.
